The “S” Word-2 Trends to Watch

Shirtwaist Dress Classic ShirtThere are 2 things I’m planning on this season for Trends for my wardrobe.

  1. Shirts
  2. Shirtwaist Dresses

Have you seen the number of SHIRTS (not tops) in the market?  I began noticing this trend a couple of seasons ago. So this season, I’m building my “shirt” wardrobe.

Since the dress has made its comeback designers has pretty much run the gamut of how to style it.  From empire style to the wrap, dresses have infiltrated the market.

It stands to reason now is the time to adapt the shirt.  The shirt, a classic styled shirt from Banana Republic is made from a beautiful cotton satin fabric and is said to be “wrinkle resistant”.  The NEW Wash n Wear!

I’m loving this dress, a LL Bean dress that has everything going for it this spring!  Chambray AND Shirtwaist!

The history of a shirtwaist dress goes back to the Gibson Girl Days when the man’s shirt was adapted for women and has always been considered a “classic” item.

Here’s why I’m loving this new trend.

  1. Shirts:  give you shape, structure and style to your upper body.  A top or t-shirt can’t be dressed up to the extent that a shirt can.  The fabric and embellishements for a shirt are endless.  You can go “boho” or romantic with ruffles and still be stylishly chic in your jeans or dress pants.
  2. Shirtwaist Dresses: are easy, easy to wear.  They don’t hug the body but still give you structure. Throw on a cool belt, layer it with some jewelry, but a tank underneath or even wear your leggings with your wedges and you are stylishly up to date with effortless ease.

Now is the time to add shirts and shirtwaist dresses into your wardrobe.  You’ll wear the trend now and for many seasons to come.  You’ll:

“Look Good, Feel Great and Have FUN Doing It!”
